Jobs That Hire Sex Offenders

A lot of sex offenders ask the question “Are there any jobs that hire sex offenders?”

Yes! There are jobs that hire sex offenders.

First you need to know this fact. Most minimum wage jobs will not hire sex offenders. This is because of the direct involvement with the customer. Its just to much of a risk for most of those companies. Now the jobs that pay between 10-30 an hour will. This is because most jobs that are between 10-30 an hour are at a factory or doing some form of manual labor (if you lack a degree). These jobs usually never care about your past and are known to hire just about anyone. Most of the time these jobs are simple to get. You just have to keep trying. Also if you are highly educated you will have an even higher chance of getting a job. This is because there is usually a higher demand for highly educated people. There are less people to fill your spot. So with that all said you should know that yes there may be a lot of minimum wage jobs that will not hire you, but for everyone of those there is an opportunity just waiting for you. The last thing that we would like to discuss is that the IT field is great for sex offenders. You can be the behind the scenes guy and still make 50k or more a year. It happens all the time.

If this article has helped you out in anyway please share this on your social media accounts or email it to other sex offenders that you may know. Together we can put an end to sex offender unemployment.

There are so many problems with the registry. 1 if someone is that violent make legnthier sentences. 2 lowers everyones property taxes. 3 department of corrections has horrible rehabilitation rates for ALL offenders not just sex offenders. 4 loads of people draw welfare and disability because of this. 5 politicians use the registry for political gain Symphothise towards public insecurities. 6 the registry cant deny religous freedoms or other constitutional rights so telling someone they cant work or live near schools or that they are liabilities for the work force only creates higher crime rates and yet doesnt fix the reoffending also lots of states are declaring parts UNCONSTITUTIONAL because they cant be retro active meaning the laws only apply to the current laws u were sentenced to atleadt that is what it is suppose to be also none of those laws claim you cant be in public around minors. 7 most offenders dont know there rights and neither do local authorities as the laws are so bland. 8 the registry was created to be a system of INFORMING THE PUBLIC FOR PUBLIC SAFTEY. 9 EVEN IF YOUR A TIER 1 OR 2 OFFENDER GETTING OFF THE LIST STILL IS VERY DIFFICULT AND TAKES TIME AND MONEY. 10 PEOPLE ON THE REGISTRY ARE FORCED TO OPT OUT FROM SOCIETY AND LIVE LIFE AS A LIFE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES OR FAMILY IN THE EVENT THEY ACTUALLY ARE CAPABLE OF GETTING A JOB. THERE 10 REASONS I THINK THIS IS ALL BS

I have actively been looking, applying and interviewing at numerous companies. I haven’t had any luck what-so-ever. Not even with Temp services. I find companies are not interested in who you are as a person and the qualities and skills you have to offer, rather there hung up on one regrettable mistake I made over 10 years ago.

I feel for you. I have applied for at least 70 jobs in the past month. Only received one interview from Kmart and they loved me. But my past as a SO revoked the job offer. I am Educated but i do not think i will be able to find a job in PA. Its bad enough being a SO. They want us to fail and go to prison. In some places that is a death sentence!

We need to be a protected class. ESPECIALLY if we are not violent offenders

It’s not glamorous, but I’m a woman with that charge & I’m treated ALOT worse than people think. Don’t let the system win. Your worth more than that, it’s what you did not who you are. Only your higher power can judge, we all have done something wrong in our lives we aren’t proud of.. keep up the fight. It’s worth proving to YOU if to no one else that you aren’t what you did!!!!

I was contract so no benefits. AL this for a few pics. It was wrong, but haven’t we all paid the debt. Let us back into society, please.

I see people wanting to contribute and allowed to live a life. God bless all of us and the ones to scared to talk. Speaking out is,the way to change things.

I made a recent mistake, and got instant probation. I agree, most places don’t care who you are as a person–they just see the record & that’s that. & Mine was a very, very strange incident, too–setup, duped, and railroaded. I’ve never made a mistake in my life, have a BA, & dozens of positive reference, but not one place has even truly considered me here in the Reno, NV area. I could use all the help I can get. And comparatively, I’m in a way ‘better’ situation than most. But that doesn’t fix the current issue.

I would like to start off by saying I apologize to society for the harm and trauma offenders have done. The response is understood. I created my reality 32 years ago, I’ve been out for so many years, I think for me As you see first I apologize In any conversation I start about upsetting people when I disclose. Im sincere and regretful, I cant change my past, I can’t blame my traumatic past for my decision. I can’t find fault in those that hate or can’t cope with my past. It is not for me too judge any one, It is in forgiving that I have grown. I have had many jobs in my life, from carpentry, drywall, building this and that, I learned to weld, became a safety trainer for a company. Learned automotive repair, took an accounting course. My life growing up was far worse than as an adult. I am so greatfull for each day being a free worthy person and reproductive member of society. I am a grandpa and so greatfull for the simple things in life. I am not sure why I have never had a problem finding work? Maybe it is because people see the sincerity when I apologize for my disclosing such a messed up choice. I do agree mentoring sex offenders does work, I personally have contacted other sex offenders and offered up my phone number upon thier release. In prison the big yard in this state was healthy groups of men sat around talking and discussing the impact, learned about how to live a life with out being deviant. Broke through denial and learned to empathize. I am not rich, but I feel rich for I have an healthy relationship with the one I love. I wish all who struggle peace, reach out to the healthy people around you. Treat yourself as your best friend would, you are on your journey find your way the road is worth it. I still need support or to talk, I have even sought out a counselor now and then. And no court told me to. Why? Because in life we grow, it is the path we chose. Mom always said when your feeling depressed because you broke your arm, look around you will find a man with no leg. Now stop your whining get off your ass and do something.I will a ways regret the choice I made, but I will never forget the day I forgave myself and went on to live a happy healthy life. Many people struggle in life, its how we work past it that defines us. Best of skill, luck is for the casino don’t forget that.

I have been working for this labor company for 2 months . I am thankful for the job, but it comes with so much bs. I get disrespected often. Do majority of the worst work and my co workers say all the worst disses or negative name calling with no fear because my foreman agrees with it and laughs with the jokes. I have recently had to register after fifteen years of not registering this is a new deal for me. My own business is the best bet. Strongly think this is the worst thing I have endured in 37 years.

The statement in the above article about the IT field being great for sex offenders must not be in the DFW area in Texas. I have over 25 years experience and have boxes full of submitted resumes and applications which have all been ignored or rejected because of me being a sex offender. My offense was 18 years ago, and I served my sentence day for day in prison. I have no restrictions other than reporting, and in Texas the employment address is not listed in the State Registry.

We are still stuck with the negative stigma existing mainly because of the media hype pushing the concept that “once a sex offender, always a sex offender” and that there is no “cure” despite the fact that sex offenders have the lowest recidivism rate of all felonies despite societies walls built against us. While with any addiction “no cure” can certainly be true in some cases, it is NOT true with all addictions and all cases. The “fix” for this has to start with proper education to the public. The problem with this is that nobody wants to touch it because of it’s negative stigma and become unpopular in the public’s eye.

I think everyone here, that can’t find a job, should either apply for DVR through their local Job Service center, or apply for disability or welfare due to being unable to get a job because of their record status. I would also contact your area representatives and make some noise. I know you don’t want the attention but, the more people call, the more they have to look at this unfortunate, unconstitutional treatment of people that have served their time ! It has become a disability that the laws have created, right ?

I am a sex offender from Oregon. I was 18 and in high school and had sexual contact with a 13 year old 8th grader at a bonfire party from another school. Just touching and kissing, no sex. We didn’t even discuss age as I thought she was actually close to my mine. Did even cross my mind honestly. Her mom found out from her sister and was a school counselor so she felt required to turn me in a year later. I was 19 and pleaded out to 3 class C felonies so I could only spend 30 days in jail. I had 5 years probation that ended in 2010. I had lifetime registration mandatory from Oregon, but in 2009 I moved to Texas and they saw me as no threat and reduced my time to 10 years. I’m off in 2020. I even completed my classes 3 years early and got a letter stating I’m no threat to anyone from the counselor. I have not been in trouble before or since then. I have a job as a department director for a local company and another delivering pizzas. I am always looking for something to do as a career. I know that if my main job finds out
, I’m gone. I’ve been there 3 years now and have done great work. I tried to go to college in Houston in 2010, and I was kicked out because of my background when I reported it to them. I had to move to Texas because no one in Oregon would look at me, temp agencies especially. I have lots of work history and I pick things up pretty fast so I adapt to whatever job I can get. Right now I am in the best position in life I have ever been in since I became an adult. I know it will change. I want to be ready for it before it knocks me on my butt again. I can live anywhere in Texas and finish out my registration. Any ideas on what I should do?

Are you sure about that? I spoke yesterday to a lawyer in CA who told me a new law was recently passed that will now mean that the passports of all registered sex offenders will be stamped on the first page identifying them as a registered SO. And, already some countries are banning from entry anyone whose passport identifies them as a SO. If your have this stamp in your passport, you will no longer be able to enter Mexico. Don’t know the other countries but, the lawyer did tell me there were others. Anyone hear about this?

I ask because, I am truly considering leaving the U.S. for good. Mexico might no longer be an option but, there are plenty of other countries where I might live very cheaply for a while and, hopefully, one day, get a green card there.

I live in Texas and am a college graduate. I have a BS in Multimedia Design and Development, and I can’t even get a factory/warehouse job because they all do background checks now. It has proven very difficult to get a job, even with my degree. Most of the time I feel like giving up because I can’t seem to catch a break, and I have several people trying to help me get a job, any job and it doesn’t seem to be working. This has been going on for over a year now and it is very depressing. You all can check out my work here http://www.innovationdesigntx.com, just feel like I am never going to find a job again because of this “label” on me.

Been working as a welder for 18 years+ and have seemed to hit a brickwall. Have had a couple great jobs(Lockheed Martin on a military base 6-8 years ago) and Caterpillar for 2 years. LM shutdown our operations after the Iraq war and I give thanks to that retired Colonel that stuck his neck out for me and Cat hired some very intelligent nuts one of which put me under fire. Been working this job that is totally dead end and pays like we are in the 80’s. Been trying to get into truck driving but been turned down by four companies so far. It’s been 14 years since I committed my crime, 12 years since I been out on probation. 9 years since I’ve completed my sentence and am unrestricted here in Georgia but now can’t find a decent job to support myself. I thank God my family and some select friends have stuck by my side. But for the rest of the world that only wants to point fingers and throw stones, you also have to answer to Almighty God for your sins. Alot of people that don’t know one SO personally are going to lose their privilege of having their sins forgiven them because they won’t forgive a sex offender they heard about. Many SO’s that have changed their ways and done good are gonna be walking the streets of Heaven, but those that probably don’t even know them are gonna be cast out of Heaven for unforgiveness. It is shameful how there’s a bandwagon of hate trolling through the world against sex offenders that we can’t even find jobs or be allowed to continue living a normal prosperous life. Mind you, some I feel should be castrated, but those that repent and change before your eyes should be loosed from this oppression. The cross of Jesus was meant to be shameful as criminals are hung to die naked on top of a hill for all to see. The church hasn’t even stood up against this oppression. Pray

There are many organizations that take volunteers. Most of them would not ask for any backgrounds. There you will find people who are doing community services. It is a great way to connect with these people who could be sympathetic to your situation.

If you can impress the supervisor with your work, they might hire you part time or even full time. Also many of those places take volunteers from companies who want to build their social reputations. Supervisors or managers of the volunteering place would have connection with many local employers. Since these companies are in a mission to pay back to the community. Some of them could be kind enough to give you a job.

Like the others have said do not mention your background until you have impressed the place with your work. Even if you do not get a job or do not get paid, you might learn some skills that can help you apply for jobs at another place.

Also make sure volunteering organization is not dealing with kids. Most places there will be some high school seniors and college kids doing internship. Stay away from all kids. Most importantly tell your PO all about the place before you start volunteering there.

I am sex offender and it was HARD to get a job. But a friend of mine told me that I should get a CDL to driver a truck. I did and got hired very quickly by a local company who didn’t care. In fact, they didn’t even flinch when my PO showed up to verify the job. Because I was poor, the state paid for the training.

I am a 59yo, just released from prison in june 2016 after14 years. I have no parole to worry about. Had to relocate to Kissimmee, Florida to take over my parents home after they both passed away wile I was in prison. Just started looking for work in the audio-visual and staging industry which I was in before I went to prison. Mom and dad left me some money, but not enough to retire and to much to get public aid, and to make things worse, the personal representative of the estate stole $100,000.00 of it so now I have to pay for a lawyer to get it back. I know i am better off then most people here and that I am great full for, but if anyone knows of anyone that hires in the Kissimmee / Orlando area can you please let me know. Thanks and good luck to all.

I think the hardest part is you tell them you have a felony on the application and they ask you to explain then you see the demeanor change as soon as you tell them. You know right then the interview is over and you just wasted your time.

I’m not even a registered offender and this has happened to me a few times. It’s devastating.

As I write this comment I am considering the obstacles I have faced and overcome; all sex offenders will have to take into consideration that we are ALWAYS going to be a “class” (as mentioned in one comment) that there will NEVER be any “protection” for: society says [without saying] ‘sex offenders have no rights to live/exist…they deserve to die!’ This may sound harsh, but who cannot agree with this after experiencing what I have: People say that they want to give you a/an opportunity (personally/financially) to attain self-sufficiency but “policy” will not allow it – this policy was put in place to 1. eliminate “undesirables” [we are the lepers of today], and 2. help make the hiring decision much easier (it is easier to eliminate someone who is FORCED [under penalty of perjury] to revisit their criminal past.

HOWEVER…I offer you hope! If you will heed my advice, you’ll find yourself not only making friends, but also JUST MAYBE landing employment with which you can LEARN to be happy, as well as provide for yourself/family.

LADIES (few of you): investigate construction opportunities! I am an Operating Engineer…fancy term for machine operator…I got paid well for playing video games! QUESTION: How many women do you see on concrete crews, welding sites, home construction sites? ANSWER: (and from my experience I speak) I have actually made friends with a total of 6 (six)! And I’ve been in construction for over 5 (five) years!

Gentlemen: I have an associates in business, ran my own business – commercial and residential mowing…successful but my credit was the death of the business.
Going into business for yourself can be a goal IF you do your homework! Research, your target market; research market demand and supply; HAVE A MARKET STRATEGY!!!!!!! [there is a lot more, but I think you’d “profit” more from the ‘rest of the story’]

Gentlemen, GET REAL!!!! ANYTHING people oriented, FORGET IT! LOGISTICS, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, MERCHANDISING/SALES [you get the picture]… OF COURSE THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE (I heard that – you know who you are)…there are those who will give you the opportunity – IF you land one MAKE DARNED SURE YOU WALK THE WAY JESUS DID!

Investigate employment opportunities in construction!!! BUT BE PREPARED TO FACE THE SAME “BACKGROUND” CHECK! FIRST pray! Because God is the only one who can open the door/heart of the employer with whom you may find yourself receiving a pension after years of service.

To ALL: You are now the product of your decision(s) in your past; YOU WILL NEVER OUT RUN THEM OR GET AROUND THEM BUT YOU CANNNNNNN OVERCOME THEM. If you’d like to hear my story, and how God made it possible for me to get to where I am today (I have my PASSPORT, TWIC CARD, OSHA 10, WORKING ON MY NCCER, AND HOPE), you may contact me at [email protected] and in the subject line copy and paste these words: TELL ME YOUR STORY.

I am like you, feel what you feel, have the same experience(s), and often get through things you’ve been/are going through…I want to help you, but you have to learn to see yourself as THE PRODUCT, MANUFACTURE OF THE PRODUCT, AND SALES REP…until you do this NO ONE IS GOING TO BUY WHAT YOU OFFER!

MAY GOD GRANT US ALL PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN OUR TIME OF NEED. AND MAY WE BLESS AND PRAISE HIM BY RIGHT LIVING…HAVE MERCY OH LORD UPON THE HEARERS OF WHAT I HAVE TO OFFER AND UPON THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN YOU AND YOU PROMISES. Amen.
